Photo by @hannahreyesmorales | This little stream in the Sierra Madre is a special place to me: true and wild, with gentle light. The Sierra Madre is the longest mountain range in the Philippines. The mountains act as a natural barrier from typhoons and storm surges—locals will often assert that the Sierra Madre protects us. I found shelter and clarity there. And as much as our identity in the Philippines is anchored toward our southern seas, I felt so connected to our mountains in the north too. There’s so much to learn from her strength, her intensity, her nurturing. Follow @hannahreyesmorales for more stories about the Philippines and beyond.
